This well is located next to a temple in the village of Faridpur in Bolpur district of West Bengal about 250 kilometers northwest of Kolkata, India. There are 44 homes in the village and our well serves the need of about 245 people. Most of the men and women from the village are employed as day laborers in tilling agricultural land or at nearby construction sites earning about $2 to $3 a day.
