This well is located in the village of Uttarnarayanpur which is about 250 kilometers northwest of Kolkata, India. This well is located on the side of a mud path that goes through the village and serves the water needs of approximately 150 members of the local community. Prior to the construction of this well the villagers used water from a nearby pond that was contaminated.
